How the poor people live.

We are so lucky to live where we do and I don't think the kids appreciate it yet. They can't really fathom that other kids don't get to go for walks down at the waterfront with their mum and watch the sun set. They think it is normal to run around and chase birds and watch sail boats on the bay. For them it is just part of their day to day life.

These photos were taken on 17 June 2009 and although on this particular day we did not have a BBQ it is one of our favourite places to have dinner. It is simply glorious.

ANZAC Day 2009

Today is Rememberance Day. It reminded me of our ANZAC Day 2009.
I had set the alarm for 3:45am to ensure I would have enough time to get 3 half asleep kids dressed and ready for the Dawn Service, unknown to me Olivia didn't trust me and also set her alarm. This would have been fine except for the fact that she set her alarm for about 2:30am! We sorted ourselves out and we headed out to Redcliffe to attend the Dawn Service overlooking Moreton Bay. We sat outside a shop and waited for some of the people to march by and an elderly man came past us and thanked us for attending.

The service started and as usual The Last Post and Reveille made me cry. The kids were very well behaved although I am not sure they understand the true significance of ANZAC Day yet. After the service we went for a walk down the jetty and welcomed a new day.

Later in the morning the kids marched with their school in the ANZAC Day March. It was really hot and sunny and the march was very long. It was great to see so many kids not just from our school but from all of the local schools and other clubs and associations turn out to show their appreciation to all our service men and women.
